- Longan wood charcoal is made from the trunks and branches of longan trees after harvest. The wood is dried and carbonized in a low-oxygen environment to produce dense, high-heat, long-burning charcoal. - Thanks to its naturally hard wood and dense structure, longan charcoal burns steadily, with little smoke, no popping, and excellent heat retention. - This type of charcoal is popular in export markets, especially Japan and South Korea, and is widely used for BBQ grilling, charcoal stoves, and premium fireplaces.
What is longan wood charcoal?
- Longan charcoal is a type of biochar made from longan tree wood after its productive lifecycle ends. The wood is cut into sections, dried, and then carbonized at high temperatures in a low-oxygen kiln.
- With longan wood’s hardness and fine grain, the resulting charcoal is strong, less brittle, and provides stable heat during use.

Basic characteristics of longan charcoal:
- Size: Long sticks or short logs (10–30 cm)
- Moisture content: < 7%
- Recovered ash content: < 3%
- Calorific value: 6,800 – 7,500 Kcal/kg

What is the efficiency of longan charcoal?
- Longan charcoal offers high combustion efficiency due to its long burn time, even heat distribution, and clean burning. When used for grilling, it emits no smoke and preserves the original flavor of the food.
- Compared to gas or regular charcoal, longan charcoal saves fuel and enhances quality for households, restaurants, and export use.
Applications in agricultural production:
- Ash from longan charcoal can be used as organic fertilizer or soil conditioner in farming, improving soil aeration and moisture retention.
- Additionally, finely ground charcoal powder can be used as a planting medium or deodorizer in livestock farming.
Use for domestic heating:
- Longan charcoal is ideal for BBQ grills, household stoves, or premium fireplaces thanks to its steady burn, low smoke, neutral scent, and long-lasting heat.
- Consumers favor it for being both health-safe and convenient, requiring less frequent refueling.
Applications in industry:
- Longan charcoal is used in restaurants, food processing workshops, charcoal export facilities, and small biomass boilers.
Some examples of industries using Longan charcoal:
- Japanese and Korean BBQ restaurants
- Grilled food packaging factories
- Small-scale drying kilns and household boilers
